How to Calculate Your Tarot Birth Card

Add the digits of your birth date, reduce, and read the card. Here is the full method with examples.

The Method

Write your birth date as month, day and year.
Add every digit.
If the total is greater than 22, add the digits of the total again.
Match the final number (1 to 22) to a Major Arcana card. 22 is The Fool.
If that number is 10 or higher, reduce it once more to a single digit to find your soul card.

Example 1: A Single Card

07/04/1990 → 0 + 7 + 0 + 4 + 1 + 9 + 9 + 0 = 30 → 3 + 0 = 3. Your birth card is The Empress, both personality and soul card.

Example 2: A Pair

05/06/2000 → 0 + 5 + 0 + 6 + 2 + 0 + 0 + 0 = 13. The total is already 22 or less, so your personality card is Death (XIII). Reduce once more: 1 + 3 = 4, so your soul card is The Emperor (IV).

Special Cases

Total of 22: The Fool (0) as personality card, The Emperor as soul card.
Total of 19: The Sun, passing through Wheel of Fortune to The Magician.
Total of 10: Wheel of Fortune and The Magician.

Why Some Readers Differ
