What Is Tarot Numerology?
Tarot numerology reads the numbers on the Major Arcana as part of each card’s meaning, and uses digit reduction to connect dates to cards. It is a symbolic system, valued for the structure it gives to reflection rather than for any predictive power.
The Core Numbers
| Number | Theme | Card |
|---|---|---|
| 0 | Potential, beginnings | The Fool |
| 1 | Will, initiative | The Magician |
| 2 | Duality, receptivity | The High Priestess |
| 3 | Creation, growth | The Empress |
| 4 | Structure, stability | The Emperor |
| 5 | Change, teaching | The Hierophant |
| 6 | Harmony, choice | The Lovers |
| 7 | Drive, progress | The Chariot |
| 8 | Power, balance | Strength |
| 9 | Completion, wisdom | The Hermit |
Reduction: From 10 to 22 Back to 1 to 9
Numbers from 10 to 21 can be reduced to a root by adding their digits: 10 → 1, 14 → 5, 21 → 3. Cards that share a root share an underlying theme, which is why pairs like The Magician (1) and Wheel of Fortune (10) are read together.
Where Numerology Meets Your Birth Date
