Tarot Numerology for Beginners
How numbers shape the meaning of the Major Arcana, from 0 to 21.
Last updated: October 4, 2026
Numbers as Meaning
Each Major Arcana card carries a number, and the number is part of the message: 1 initiates, 2 balances, 3 creates, 4 stabilizes and so on. See the table on our tarot numerology page.
Reduction
To reduce a number, add its digits until you have 22 or less (or a single digit). 30 becomes 3; 19 becomes 10, then 1.
What Numerology Gives You
- Birth cards from your date of birth.
- Year cards for any year.
- A way to see how cards 10 to 21 echo cards 1 to 9.
A Note on Evidence
Numerology is a symbolic practice. There is no scientific evidence it predicts events; its value is in structure and reflection.
Tarot birth cards are symbolic tools for reflection and self-exploration. This guide is for educational purposes and is not a prediction.
